New Addon: GuildTax

This addon allocates money to be placed in the guild bank. It can be controlled first by the player, but the player can allow the gmotd to control the amount. While this is a cool concept, the idea that some guilds may make something like this mandatory is upsetting. Guildmembers tend to contribute as much as they can, if they plan to at all. Again, the concept is solid, it just doesn't seem like it has a ton of uses.

I saw an addon pre-BC that helped you save up for things like your epic mount. It hid some of your money from you so you couldn't spend it until you reached your goal. I cannot remember the name of it, nor do I know if its still supported (I doubt it is with all the API changes).

Progression

We were able to get Ignis down tonight. We should have done it a month ago, but we kept putting it off. Tanking boots dropped, Twix got them. She said they were ugly and regretted winning them.

After the few attempts it took to get Ignis, we moved on to Thorim. What a mess that was. I knew I'd be in the arena team, but the dps couldn't wrap their head around moving into Twix/my AoE to stay alive. So, we wiped many, many times and the gauntlet team didn't make it to the second boss.

25 man Naxx

So I don't know how I feel about the way we've been doing Naxx25 recently. We aren't using the DKP we've accumulated for months, unless its a highly sought item. We're using free rolls, main spec first, offspec second. That's all fine and good, but I've been dpsing pretty much entirely when we go, but still have to roll as dps gear being my offspec. It gets frustrating when there's only a couple things left that I could use, but I can't get them because someone who never DPSs in a raid can roll as offspec and get it. Since dual spec was implemented, I dps and tank pretty evenly. Ulduar 10 man, I find myself in either role pretty often. Ulduar 25, I usualy tank, but there's a couple fights where I get away with dps, or a set of gear that's a hybrid.

I don't know if I really have room to bitch, but its my blog, dammit! I was able to replace my leather gloves last night, and added the extra socket through Blacksmithing, which I hadn't done to the leather since I knew I would be trying to replace them. The run wasn't a waste, but I really was hoping we'd get KT down so we could see about getting some 1h or 2h weapons that were useful. Since they announced they wanted to fix DW for DKs, I'm now working on getting some 1h weapons for that time, while at the same time I want to get my hands on a good 2h for either dps or tanking, so I can have two different runes on my weapons, and change my frost spec to accomodate until the DW fix. Right now, its all a pipe dream...

Considering a change of format

Posting on the goings-on of my life will not make a very interesting, or updatable blog. So I'm considering writing about my gaming findings, mostly WoW, but PS3 updates as well. I do a lot of addon sniffing, which gives me something to write about and keep my time occupied when I can't play any games.

We start our downstairs rennovation tomorrow. We're pulling out the horsehair plaster and slats. The plan is to swap the living room and dining room, as well as put in new wiring for the electricity, then repaint the drywall. It will take a month or so, but the payoff will be awesome. Hopefully, we don't find any major issues

Freudian?

I had a very strange dream last night. The first thing I remember is being on rollerblades, in a library with my mother. We were getting some specific type of book that I can't remember at this point, but my mother was pissed because she suddenly had a Star Trek book in the mix and that wasn't what we were there for. So she fades out of the dream but I'm still on rollerblades in what's now a book store, instead of a library. I think they also sold pizza. But I think I worked there, and always wore the rollerblades. It was one of my first few weeks or something, because I still didn't know everyone. There was some chick who wanted me to go hang out with her friends after work. They apparently also worked there. For some reason, there was a chrisitian motivational speaker there and he was trying to motivate us. All of us were mocking him because we were all aetheists. He eventually stopped mid-sentence and left as we laughed.

Skip ahead and we're at a bar, sitting at a table. The bar is huge and empty. The original chick was trying to get me to go sit in her car, hinting heavily at having sex. I mentioned I lived with my girlfriend and the dream ended.

Am I arguing with my subconcious? I woke up wanting beer....

iGoogle theme

I spent a decent portion of today looking for a new theme for iGoogle. I stumbled across some really cool ideas, but the finished product wasn't quite adequate. For instance, there was an Annakin/Vader theme but the gadget titles were all pinkish. If I'm going to have a Sith on my desktop, I'd rather not have if feel feminine. I also found a couple Neil Gaimen inspired themes, but the pictures weren't so terrific.
